Asian Art Museum

(HOK-Aulenti-Wong-LDA Project)
San Francisco, CA

In 2001-02, Kathy Shaffer worked for LDA, a partner with HOK and Robert Wong on the design and construction drawings for the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Gae Aulenti (best known for the Musee d'Orsay project in Paris) was an associate in the project.

The project involved converting the existing San Francisco Main Library (a classic, 1917 Beaux-Arts building) that had been condemned after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake into a new space for the Asian Art Museum to relocate to. The project involed scale model building and detailed construction drawings.
