John Davis

Sausalito Historic Remodel

In 2004 the owner wanted to sell his property that had not been worked on for over thirty years and show how it could be updated with new appliances, windows, and improved parking keeping this historic character of the home.

Originally built on a busy lot at the intersection of San Carlos and Spencer in Sausalito, the story is that the house was remodeled by University of Oklahoma architectural graduate (who studied under Bruce Goff) John Davis in the sixties, adding decks and tropical landscaping "bringing the outside in" to create a spacious vacation home with views of Angel Island and Richardson Bay and keeping San Carlos "pedestrian."  (The original Davis residence that was used as a studio was located just up the hill).
